“Nancy Oakes, fellow Boulevard chefs Pamela Mazzola and Ravi Kapur, and restaurant general manager Kathy King are signing papers and making plans for a new restaurant in the still-under-construction Infinityscheduled to open in mid-2009. At one time, Oakes talked of opening a lounge-style restaurant where patrons could sip cocktails and sample appetizer-size bites before moving into a small dining room for big plates. But it’s unclear whether that’s still the plan.”

  1. I have to make my obligatory comment that I’m excited about this rumor … and also excited that Local Kitchen and Wine Merchant (on 1st Street across from The Metropolitan) and the two Kuleto restaurants (WaterBar and Epic Roasthouse, I think they’re called) will be opening in the next few months in Rincon Hill.

  2. can’t go wrong with the Boulevard chefs…
One of my fave places to go. To me, the epitome of SF cuisine.
obviously, there are hordes of other great restaurants, but this is the best.
hope it works out as well as the original!

  3. This is what’s needed in the Rincon Hill neighborhood to truly make it a place where people gather. Building towers everywhere isn’t going to create a neighborhood on its own, it takes private investment in businesses in the neighborhood, and this sounds like it will really help the area.

  4. Wow, that is awesome if a Boulevard offshoot sets up in The Infinity. This area of the city is really developing well. If you haven’t been to the Farmer’s market in the Ferry Building yet, check it out. Really exciting development.
I had my doubts on The Millenium Towers starting at $1,000/sqft…. perhaps it’s not that bad anymore.

  5. Wow, just wow! This is great news for Infinity and the neighborhood. yes, I’m going to start calling this a neighborhood, but I don’t like the name Rincon hill; can we come up with a different name that excludes the tower everyone talks about being ridiculously built out of a freeway.

  6. wow!
    Nancy Oakes to The Infinity
    Minna to The Millenium
    Danko to the Fairmont Heritage
    A16 to Esprit Park

    Burger Joint to The Beacon…

  7. This is cool!
A Boulevard offshoot at Infinity, WaterBar and Epic Roasthouse a block away, the real Boulevard a couple blocks away, Slanted Door at the Ferry, 1 Market, Chaya, Ozumo, Michael Minna at Millenium…. Man, the Embarcadero neighborhood is turning into a culinary hotbed!

  8. Right. “Culinary hotbed” and a nice place to run, bike and swim too. Nirvana on Folsom.
Two price increases at the Infinity so far is what I have heard lately – meaning that demand remains fairly strong perhaps?
