With plans for a modern five-story, 21-unit development to rise across the four Bayview parcels at 5210-5216 3rd Street, at the corner of 3rd and Thornton, having been drawn, the adjacent six parcels at 5222-5250 3rd Street are now (begrudgingly) in play as well.

The six contiguous parcels are each zoned for development up to 40 feet in height, not including any bonuses.

And with a court-appointed Partition Referee now overseeing the sale, and an offering price of $3 million, offers for the nearly 19,000-square-foot site are due on April 6. We’ll keep you posted and plugged-in.

    1. The sellers are two brothers that hate each other so much they couldn’t agree on counter offer terms so the court had to step in.

      1. John, You sound ignorant of all relevant facts. Good job opining on something you do not understand.

  1. Build build build! If it’s not a public park, there shouldn’t be empty lots anywhere in one of the most expensive cities in the US.

  2. I for one will be so happy to see this property no longer in their hands. There is a story there just nothing “great” about it at all.

Before being a vacant lot there was an old home that stood up the upper left hand corner of the lot (on the hill) that had been in disrepair for years and was uninhabitable and at one point had caught fire. Not sure if one of the brothers or not, but someone began living in a garage/shack on the street level that turned into even a hoarders nightmare. Eventually the City intervened and the house was forced to be torn down, after a years long protracted battle with DBI where they refused access to the property and didn’t show for Director’s hearings. Following that it was placed on the market where it did not sell for whatever reason.

Glad to see that this property can finally be something more than a constant eyesore on the corridor!
