Having hit the market at the end of 2016, priced to “define the city’s high end with a $22-million price tag,” the former Egyptian Consulate at 3001 Pacific Avenue has finally sold with a $15.85 million contract price.

Designed by Bliss & Faville and built following the Great Quake of 1906, the nearly 14,000-square-foot mansion was purchased by the Egyptian government in 1960 and served as its Consulate up until around 2010, when it was last renovated and reinforced.

And having been virtually staged and re-listed with a dramatically reduced $16 million list price in February of last year, the sale was officially “within 1 percent of asking” according to all industry stats and reports.
