While the Craigslist post doesn’t note the address (and omits a picture of the façade), we’ll peg the five bedroom “Marina Mansion for Rent” asking $13,500 a month as the one-time Top Chef house at 3157 Baker Street that was last listed for sale at $3,695,000 (down from $5,000,000 in 2008) before being withdrawn from the MLS last month.
$13,500 a month? A 4.4% cap rate on the last wish price. Riiiight…
A sign they don’t expect the market for this kind of property to be on their side for another few years.
i don’t think i’m going out on a limb expecting this not to be the “ending” of the story.
A pretty tacky house-
Most tacky of all are the fake vinyl widow “panes” you see so often in new double-glazed windows. They are an abomination and should be banned, especially on older buildings. Tacky, tacky, tacky.
I guess Brian Wilson and Barry Zito found some different digs for the upcoming season…..
Above $10k it gets exponentially harder to rent a place in the city regardless what the underlying cost of the home is worth. As a result, if you have 10k to spend on rent and have a little patience and a good broker you can often time find a very good deal. 2830 Pacific is a good example.
Having spent time there I can confirm that the interior photos are indeed 3157 Baker.
Incidentally, I don’t know if the “True” Top Chef house is this one or the one next door (3159, owned by the same people) but I do know that the kitchen in 3157 is utterly dismal and totally unfit for a Top Chef. I cooked here when it was rented a couple of years ago; the oven and range are so crammed in that you can’t open some of the drawers and the cabinets over the counter at the back stick out so far as to make the work surface unusable there. My guess is the Top Chefs would have run a mile if they were here rather than next door.
Well looks like Craigslist didn’t pan out… 3157 Baker Street is now back on the market… this time asking $3,495,000.
Back on @ $3.5
