While it’s still not listed on the MLS nor yet official inventory, the asking price for the iconic “Mrs. Doubtfire House” at 2640 Steiner Street, which was purchased for $1.395 million in 1997, has been set at $4.45 million.
According to the agent for the four-bedroom Pacific Heights home (which was designed by Joachim B. Mathison and built around 1893), while tax records for the property list it at 2,578 square feet, it measures closer to 3,500 square feet per a floor plan artist when including the lower level laundry and “exercise” rooms.
And the home has recently been remodeled, with a chef’s kitchen and lift in the former one-car garage which can now accommodate two sedans.
Elegant home. The details are fabulous. Its large but not so much so that the sense of intimacy a home should have is lost.
That photo of the stacker parking looks precarious to me. Must be the angle.
Could you imagine inadvertently lowering the stacker when the cars are in that position. Squash. I assume there is some fail-safe system that prevents that from happening.
I’m sure the crowds of people hanging around outside and taking selfies on your front porch will help add to the sense of intimacy.
Nice, but no thanks due to tourists.
I’ve never understood the fascination with this home as a tourist attraction. Seems like a wonderful home but sadly it most likely needs an estate style gate / fence around the perimeter and security cameras
For Halloween I’d dress up like Mrs. Doubtfire and wave to tourists from that little patio up top. Or, maybe just do it daily.
best comment ever
Should be more, tbh. Did you see that character-less piece of garbage asking 6.2M in Eureka Valley?
It’s a gorgeous home but that parking stacker – no! Almost 2600 sq feet is not that large, really. Love the floors & the details. The only thing is that I thought the kitchen was tiny for a home that size.
