Having been taken “down to the studs,” completely remodeled and expanded to a little over 2,000 square feet (with four bedrooms, four baths and a panoramic roof deck to boot), the Bernal Heights home at 478 Anderson Street sold for $2.2 million in January of 2018.

The home’s main floor features an open living/dining room, with an adjacent “chef’s kitchen” outfitted with Calacatta marble counters, Italian tile, and custom wood cabinets.  And as of this morning, the “gorgeous contemporary home” is now back on the market with a “$1.995 million” price tag.

If you think you know the market in Bernal, now’s the time to tell.

  1. Bernal Heights, the appeal of this district is a mystery to me. A very, very trendy renovation of a nothing special house on a nothing special narrow bernal block. Only in San Francisco is this a $2M plus house. But I think you could do a lot better in this price range in any number of more interesting neighborhoods.

  2. Maurice, I’ve enjoyed living in Bernal for over 10 years. It feels like a village in the sky. The sense of community is wonderful and obviously there’s our park and coyote. Cortland has some great shops and restaurants (Succulence, Vega, Epicurean Trader) and one of the best bakeries in the city. Bernal Star has one of the best burgers in the city. No feces on the sidewalks and not too much trash around. The narrow streets remind me of Europe. Come say hello.

  3. I’m not a Bernal resident (my username gives away my location) but I’m with Josh. I was in Bernal earlier this week and it was impressive. Narrow, tree lined streets, cute houses, a community feel on Cortland, quiet and clean, tons of sun, and strategically positioned to commute either to downtown SF or to the South Bay.

  4. Street view seems like a homage to the old downcast windows logo.
Crazy price, but ok nabe. Street parking is tough, good hiking possibilities to connect 2th transit.

and on this one I will go with 2.275
