246 Atherton Avenue

Newly built upon a 2.5-acre Atherton parcel which was purchased for $7.5 million in 2011, the contemporary estate at 246 Atherton Avenue – which now includes a 18,200-square-foot main home, a 2,300-square-foot pool house, a 1,500-square-foot guest house and two detached two-car garages (in addition to the two-car garage within the main home) – was listed for $39.8 million in March.

And this afternoon, the asking price for 246 Atherton Avenue was reduced by $4,900,000 (12 percent) to $34.9 million or roughly $1,500 per livable square foot, not including over 3,500 square feet of patio and pool space.

So we ran it up the flagpole, and no one saluted. Let’s try plan B.

I just don’t understand who NEEDS an 18,000 square foot house. These people truly are living in a different realm than us mere plebes.

‘Need’ is the wrong word. The operative word is ‘want.’ One could say the same about a $3 coffee or $50 pants. We all want things we don’t need and the more money you have, the more extravagant your wants become.

Love the architecture, but definitely not the landscaping.
And if I could afford this house, there sure as hell wouldn’t be any Darioush wine in the cellar.

What problem do you have with liquefied alcoholic plum and oak juice, good sir? This is THE style! LOL
