From HOK Architects this morning:
HOK has been spearheading an effort to revitalize the Central Market district over the last month, in collaboration with the Central Market Community Benefit District, Flack and Kurtz, Public Architecture and AIA San Francisco. This is an invitation for interested residents of San Francisco to attend our presentation being held today, October 13th 2010, at 5.30 PM to hear ideas for revitalization, and weigh in with their thoughts.
The meeting will be held at Public Architecture’s offices at 1211 Folsom Street, fourth floor.
what is the central market district? Is this mid market?
Yes, this is the mid-market area.
Wish I could attend; rezone north and south of area and allow for more home ownership opportunities to help create a balanced community. The amassing of social service housing so heavily in one area has resulted in.. well a walk is worth a thousand words. Socket action rising?
I had the misfortune of walking thru mid market yesterday afternoon. Active drug dealing, public urination, homeless, dirty streets etc. I like to think I’m immune to this stuff but it was beyond sad.
I am a design professional living in the tenderloin but could not make tonight’s meeting. Will HOK consider having another meeting and giving us more that a few hours notice? I would love to participate in this discussion.
Yes, we plan to have another meeting soon. Sorry about the late notice on SocketSite, we will try to send out web invites earlier next time.
Please also consider signing up for the AIA mailing list as we send out invites through that.
