The Californian on Rincon Hill: 375 Fremont

As we mentioned last week, ‘The Californian on Rincon Hill’ a 40-story and 435 unit luxury condo building is in the works for 375 Fremont St. Richard Keating, “international celebrity architect”, professor of architecture at UC Berkeley, and designer of the Elihu Harris State Building in Oakland is heading up the design team.

“The building will have an eight-story podium with glass townhouses along Fremont Street. Atop the podium will be outdoor terrace areas with a lap pool, gym and entertaining room. The average-sized unit will be about 1,000 square feet. The top 25 floors will provide unobstructed views of the entire San Francisco Bay and surrounding areas.”

Sounds very nice. That is unless your ‘unobstructed views’ from another building are about to become very much obstructed by The Californian…

  1. 333 1st Street #1502 looks west, and although the Californian will be very tall, svelt and lovely, it will not compromise the view of this particular unit since Fremont Street is east of 1st Street. Hence the reference to the Western Ridge. These views should remain “unobstructed” from the Californian.

  2. Wow. I think that building is beautiful. Get enough of these sorts of things around the controviersial One Rincon Hill and maybe everybody will be happy.

  3. that looks nice. too bad rincon wasn’t left at that height as well.
i’m starting to wonder if we’ll have chicago or toronto style wind tunnels with these new high rises and if anyone has studied or simulated what could happen?
it would suck to see one of these pedestrians get blown from the front door onto the bay bridge as a result of all this development.

  4. Here we go, another building that looks like it could belong in any other big city. We need to get unique buildings to put us on par with other major cities around the world.

  5. We just purchased a loft between 1st and Harrison. Just found out that this “sleek” building will totally block our beautiful bay bridge view. What does this building have to offer the existing residents?
