830 El Camino Del Mar For Sail (www.SocketSite.com)
Last asking $9,900,000, while the sixteenth listing for 830 El Camino Del Mar has been withdrawn from the MLS and it’s no longer official inventory, a plugged-in tipster reports:

Well, if I can’t buy 830 El Camino, at least I can take her for a jaunt around the bay. Or maybe the owners are finally ready to let her go?

That’s right, the ten million dollar property is now “For Sail.”

  1. Dang! I walked by this place yesterday and was going to send in my pic!
My first thought about what I assume to be a precariously perched lot was that the current owner had received a troubling soils report. Hence the sign.

  2. I’m reluctant to comment – hoping I’m not being obtuse – but you are joking around what I immediately took to be a tongue in cheek reference to the America’s Cup, right?

  3. I thought that commissions were significantly lower than 6% for high priced properties.

  4. FYI, I don’t know about others, but I’ve sold a number of high end properties in SF over the years, and the commission has NEVER been 6%. It is always a negotiation. Sometimes 5%, sometimes 4% – never 6. It all depends who wants the listing and who has the freedom to set their own rate.
In several cases I’ve worked out with agents that I just pay a flat fee for them to handle the paperwork.
So, there are many ways to work out a deal. You just have to ask questions and ask more than one agent. I think most people don’t bother, or they somehow think the 6% is cast in stone. It is not.

  5. So 17th time on the market, now For Sail By Owner. Maybe local realtors have stopped taking these people seriously?

  6. They’re not getting the good luck they need from the “8” in the address because that 8 is upside down. Flip it over and it sells. You heard it here first.
