While San Francisco’s Historic Preservation Commission voted to recommend landmark status for the North Beach Branch Library, yesterday San Francisco’s Land Use and Economic Development Committee voted against the designation. It’s not now up to San Francisco’s full Board of Supervisors to decide.

  1. I still do not understand how a relatively plain building that there are still a million of in the Bay Area can be considered at all a “landmark.”
All I see is the same cookie cutter, multi-use architecture that my elementary school was composed of.

  2. Thanks to the Board of Supervisors who voted against this ridiculous “landmark” status. What is the use of an old building if it doesn’t serve the needs of community members? So many children and families rely on this library. We deserve to have a new space to serve community needs.
