In 2008 a completely remodeled 844 Bay Street (the one with the red door) hit the market asking $5,249,000 for its 4,500 square feet, the sale closed escrow on 8/8/08 with a reported contract price of $4,600,000.
Yesterday, the adjacent 850 Bay hit the MLS asking $6,500,000 for 5,000 square feet. The home now sports yellow doors and the kind of deck you read about on SocketSite.

One word – WOW! Have played a gig on the roof of this joint during a Blue Angels party. I’ve played in a lot of ritzy pads, but this place is by far the best I’ve seen in my life! There are glass floors, an entire wall that opens to the outside. Hopefully the lucky guy who buys this place will have me back to play. Who knows – maybe it will be one of the SF GIants!?!
Same developers too I think.

now, if only Bay St. wasn’t Bay St.
I’ve been in the building during kids get togethers. The kids attend public school in SF, thank you very much. Very proud of that fact. It’s really gorgeous, and the kitchen is to die for. Not sure any house is worth that much in this market, but it is a terrific modern gut job, very very well done.
builder/owners are cool as well. they do a very good job on their projects.
