A “Noe Valley” church (complete with pews, a beautiful old pipe organ, and a separate two-unit residence) is on the market for $2,395,000. It’s definitely a unique opportunity, but isn’t 94110 (East of Dolores) officially the Mission? Now about that ninth commandment…
∙ Listing: 3726-3728 Cesar Chavez – $2,395,000 [Pacific Union] [MLS]
∙ San Francisco Zip Code Map [abag.ca.gov]
You’re completely correct, of course. This stretch of Cesar Chavez is definitely not Noe Valley. Let’s hope that the overzealous realtor is the one with the Pinnochio nose, and not the church.
When I see such obvious errors of fact (sometimes also known as “lies”) in a real estate listing, it makes me wonder how many not-so-obvious “errors” exist elsewhere in the listing information. It sours me on the whole property. Don’t know if others feel as I do, but even the appearance of a “slick” agent or seller is enough to send me away. To me, agents that play these kind of games are shooting themselves (and their clients) in the foot.
It says on the Pac Union site that this is a new listing. Wasn’t this for sale about 10-12 months ago? Is there a way to find out the history on this?
Aren’t Samoans going to Church anymore? I have a feeling this is another demographic succession story, as we’ve seen with many churches in the Western Addition over the past decade. Churches tell a very interesting story….I love the one that converted to a buddhist temple just off Mission (on 21st?)with the giant buddha you can see as you walk/drive by.
And what’s with the bizarre sideways setup for the nave? Not that that matters for the eventual re-use of the building…but I’m just curious.
Technically not Noe Valley, certainly…but it’s just off Dolores and does have a baja Noe Valley feel because this is on the first “good” block of Cesar Chavez.
“baja Noe Valley feel”
Thank you. I needed that laugh.
I moved to the city with my family in 95 to pastor this church. we have always taken pride in the fact that we were in the Mission. i know that other properties on our block have been listed as Noe Valley as well. It is where it is not where someone says it is. I think the dividing line is a half block up the hill at Delores St.
