As a plugged-in tipster notes, Sunset’s 2007 San Francisco Idea House officially opened its doors to the public today and will be open from 11/30 to 12/16 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (9am-4pm). And yes, it looks like its ten week run has been reduced to two.

All that hoopla for 2 weeks….boy I bet those advertisers and vendors are Piiiisssssed.
Maybe all those “plugged in tipsters” were right with all their information all along.
The threads were a hoot to read
are they charging again for the ‘privelige’ of seeing the place.
The Sunset site says admission is $20, which seems steep for a sponsored house that they are going to sell.
Sunset doesn’t own the house. It belongs to the owner/developer. Part of the proceeds benefit a local charity.
Actually the Sunset website says this pile will be open:
“11/30/2007 through 1/27/2008 Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 9am-4pm.
“PLEASE NOTE THE HOUSE WILL BE CLOSED THE WEEKEND OF 12/21 and 12/28 due to the holidays. After the holidays we will resume our open schedule the weekend of 1/4/2008.
“General admission $20 per ticket, $15 for seniors Friday only. No children under the ages of 10.”

To which charity are the ticket proceeds supposedly directed?
The Curbed SF website is reporting that the “Sunset Idea House in the Mission has actually been caught red-handed cribbing electricity from its neighbor”. So after all the scandal and hoopla, the saga continues.
