The seasonally adjusted pace of existing-home sales in the US ticked up 1.2 percent in February to 4.88 million, up from a nine-month low pace of 4.82 million in January. The current pace is 4.7 percent higher versus the same time last year.

At the same, the inventory of unsold homes on the market increased 1.6 percent to 1.89 million homes but remains 0.5 percent lower than at the same time last year.

Existing-home sales in the West increased 5.7 percent to an annual rate of 1.11 million in February, 2.8 percent higher versus one year ago.
