The view from 1036 Chestnut (Image Source: sfproperties.com)
In good conscience we simply can’t start the weekend off on a cloudy note. So grab a glass of wine, drink up the views, and dream of sunnier days (perhaps in that master suite).

  1. Wow! Whenever I am tempted to trade condos and step into a new SOMA highrise, all I have to do is look at the views from a unit like this and I cannot help but stick to only wanting to be on the north side of the city. I still believe north of California will always be the best place to put my money and we have over 100 years of real estate history to back me up.

  2. Lovely indeed. Makes me wonder however…
Does anyone know how much the Fontana Towers knock from the value of this property..?

  3. conscience?
[Editor’s Note: Apparently happy hour started a bit early for our proof reading monkey this afternoon. Rest assured he’ll be docked two bananas next week. (And thanks for plugging in.)]

  4. I think I have pretty sweet views, but this is a great place. From a photography standpoint, they really highlighted the desirability of this home. Nice job.
To anon94123’s comments, I agree with you to a certain point, but I would say that there are those who don’t find this property exciting. To each their own. That’s the beauty of SF, if you don’t like this version of SF living, there’s lots of other variations on the theme…

  5. i can’t wait to get out of Manhattan. there is nothing like that view in Manhattan. it is very urban here and if there is a block of space, some real estate will take over. SF is so beautiful. i hope my dreams come true next year.
i really envy you guys at SF.

  6. Wow.
Prison or no prison, that is a beautiful view.
As others stated, this is the joy of SF. I cannot imagine paying any money for any of the new towers going up… but this view is right up my alley.
And it also has a great veiw of GG bridge as well.
    my oh my

  7. I love the fact that this place stands on its own without need of fluffing from stagers. When you have views this great in a location this good, there is no need for displaying a large blown up picture of Nelly. It would be nice to look out your windows and enjoy views worthy of saving as your “desktop wallpaper”.

  8. Like I said before, you just don’t get these kind of views anywhere else in the US — it’s part of the reason we love San Francisco so much. Nothing else like it! This shot is definitely worthy of wallpaper on your computer!
Good luck moving to SF — you will love it here. It’s nothing like Manhattan — hope you are ready!

  9. My mother lives in the 1000 block of Francisco and has a very similar view, just a little lower (she looks over the Ghirardelli sign). I often say that terrorists hit the wrong twin towers. The Fontanas are a true eyesore.

Another bonus for this unit is that it overlooks an unused SFPUC reservoir and a park that are as wide as the 1000 block of Chestnut and extends a block and a half all the way to Bay St. Very nice open space!

  10. “I love the fact that this place stands on its own without need of fluffing from stagers. ”
The view is great. However, it definitely looks staged.

  11. It’s staged. Note the Ikea “Hallaryd” painting that shows up periodically in Malin’s listings. Anyway, great property on my fave block on Chestnut.

  12. It’a views like that that makes me choose SF as the ideal place to live if I had $3M in the bank and a job paying $1m plus annually.

  13. “Nice, nice property, but I do wonder what 1 car tandem parking means.”
That and what does “Elevator exists in the building. Potential elevator access” mean?

  14. Not sure about the elevator but “1 car tandem parking” usually means it’s two car tandem parking in the building but your unit only gets one of the spaces.
