While the building permits for 201 Folsom haven’t yet been issued, they’re getting closer. And as a tipster captures, they’ve begun demolition of the outdoor steps that provided sidewalk access to the old post office at 390 Main Street in order to install new access barriers, corridors and a ramp in preparation for the construction of 201 Folsom to begin.

I don’t want to spoil the breaking tip….but I believe the work you’re calling out is related to the old postal facility. They have been working on the inside of this facility the past few weeks. Also, I’m pretty sure the property line for the postal facility includes these stairs. I’m not 100% certain…and can readily be corrected.
Isn’t the old postal facility being converted to the MTA headquarters?
I think you mean MTC (along with ABAG, BCDC, and BAAQMD). They’re all due to move into 390 Main.
What exactly do all those agencies do again?
Legacy Dude…the correct answer is they squander bridge toll money to build offices for themselves. (Well, that’s MTC).
MTC – Metropolitan Transportation Agency – regional transportation planning agency for the 9 county bay area.
ABAG – Association of Bay Area Governments – Regional land use planning agency for the 9 county bay area
BCDC – Bay Conservation and Development Commission – has jurisdiction over the San Francisco bay front (things like the Warriors stadium unless pending legislation in Sacto freezes them out).
BAAQMD – Bay Area Air Quality Management District – runs program to diminish air pollution, funded with Vehicle License Fees.
