3800 Washington

As we wrote about the CNET co-founder’s mansion in San Francisco last month:

Despite a million dollar price cut earlier this year, and having last been listed for $18 million versus the $20 million which was paid for the Presidio Heights property in 2007, the listing for Halesy Minor’s 18,000 square foot mansion at 3800 Washington and its adjacent 2,600 square foot guesthouse has just been withdrawn from the MLS without a reported sale.

Modeled after Le Petit Trianon in Versailles France, the property had been listed for $25 million in 2012.

Having topped the list of the Top 500 Delinquent Taxpayers in California in 2013, Mr. Minor soon thereafter filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, listing liabilities of $50 million to $100 million and assets of $10 million to $50 million, including the home.

No word on whether or not the mansion will reappear on the MLS at the beginning of the year listed “anew,” or if Mr. Minor, now the CEO of a bitcoin venture, will be attempting to reclaim and remodel the home.

This past Friday, Mr. Minor’s mansion at 3800 Washington did indeed returned to the market listed anew for $17,995,000.  And according to industry statistics and reports, the home has now officially been on the market for “4” days.

  1. it’s lovely on the outside, but the interiors are rather gauche. it looks likes they were done in the 80s. hopefully some nice person fixes it up!

  2. When that kitchen is redesigned they should take the opportunity to relocate the stove to an exterior wall to eliminate that ugly ductwork.

  3. I think the gold on the columns and some of the other paint choices, plus the lighting that you can see are all a little dated. The original detailing is all there and could be made to look far more inviting than it does now, without ripping it out or painting it white.

  4. I live a block away and it breaks my heart everytime I walk by…
the steps are being used by skateboarders and are chipped. Light fixtures broken. The landscaping is overgrown and/or dead. It used to be such a treasure box and now the neighborhood kids refer to it as a haunted house (it does look like one).

    1. Cool! I remember when I was a kid how much fun we had making up stories about the local neighborhood “haunted” house. Glad to hear kids still have active imaginations.

  5. This decaying white elephant should be demolished, and one or two nice houses should be built on the three lots it occupies.

  6. I swear this interior was featured on an episode of Law & Order – about the murder of a wealthy wine dealer – this was the home of one of his clients – he wouldn’t let the detectives in to see his cellar…
