350 8th Street Rendering

While the ground was actually broken earlier this year and the construction crews have been working away for months, the ceremonial groundbreaking for the 350 8th Apartments project to rise on the former three-acre bus depot at 8th and Harrison is next week.

Along with a bit of commercial, retail and arts space, the bulk of the development is a mix of 410 flats, lofts, and two-story townhouse apartments, the first wave of which are expected to be available in November 2015.

The development’s 5,400-square-foot plaza and café on the corner of 8th and Ringold should open soon thereafter.

    1. “the first wave of which are expected to be available in November 2015”

Not the whole thing, obviously. Just one building with the corner and cafe to open soon afterwards.

  1. –>the first wave of which are expected to be available in November 2015.

    and

–> the construction crews have been working away for months

    Obviously not literate.

    1. I define groundbreaking as.. You know.. Breaking ground.. i.e. Starting a project.

[Editor’s Note: As reported above, the “groundbreaking” next week is ceremonial and work on the project started months ago.]

      1. A large, publicly owned piece of land is now going to be used for nine or so short apartment buildings. That is why this is a waste.

      2. Extreme underbuilding, isn’t that obvious? This type of underbuilding should lead to jail time for those responsible – this is taking food out of the mouths of future residents.

  2. Mixed feeling about the height and density , would not have been against this going 11 stories , but then again its not horrible to have a mix of housing types in the SOMA being built

  3. Looks like one of those new developments down in the South Bay with all that open space. It’s is going to turn into a nightmare to keep the bums from hanging around.
