With $45 million of its $60 million construction budget raised, San Francisco’s soon to be new SFJAZZ Center at 205 Franklin ceremonially breaks ground this afternoon with an opening targeted for Fall 2012 (as opposed to the Target opening that Spring).
As the corner of Franklin and Fell currently appears in its less jazzy state:

Are the mannequins display on the window a part of the design? This seems to enlivened the street quite a bit.
Great news. Not nice to see (and hear) the workers on the roof of the auto shops at 5am though!
Why wasn’t the auto shopped landmarked? Well, I never!
Build it, and keep building, SF needs to upgrade its housing and commercial properties.

So we are building high rise housing and offices in Executive Park with no nearby transit facilities, yet this are is within walking distance to many major municipal and regional transit lines and it is only 3 stories. What happened to SMART development? Transit First?

The design looks so dated and uninspired, no? Monotony and not much play. Oh well.
