2170 Pacific: Stairs, dome, and landing

Having been listed at $3,445,000 and $3,345,000 earlier this year, the new listing for 2170 Pacific isn’t entirely (new that is). But along with the asking price ($3,250,000) and “days on the market” (two), a few of the photos are (with details we can’t help but admire).

  1. “Fireplace(s)- 4+, Wood Burning, Decorative Only, Living Room, Master Bedroom, Dining Room”
Ok,I’m confused. Does this mean that there is only 1 working fireplace and that the fireplaces in the Living Room, Master BR & Dining are only decorative?
Also, they call it a ‘house-like’ condo. From looking at the MLS picture, it doesn’t look attached to other structures. I thought it was actually a house.

pica1986: it means that there are 4+ fireplaces, of which some are wood burning and the some are only decorative. With at least some if not all the fireplaces located in the living room, master bedroom & dining room.
As for the “house-like” condo, there are a total of 4 units in the building….

  3. I like the wood work all around. I hope the next buyer will keep the house as original as possible.
According to PropertyShark, this place is 3895sf, zoned RH3, has been last purchased 4 years ago for 2.35M w/1.5M loan.

  4. In my humble opinion, homes built in 1904 that have 1904 interiors deserve 1904 prices, too–just adjusted for inflation.
Oh, and look–isn’t that the Emporium’s skylight overhead? No?

  5. One of the biggest problems with condos is that being only a slice of a much larger building restricts the amount of light getting in. This condo appears to be “house like” in that the rooms all have good access to light and air. I think that is what the listing agent is talking about there.

  6. anyone know where the other condos are located in this building? the others must be very small. a shame they carved up this building, and for this price you might have some annoying neighbors in close quarters. looks like they attempted to use this as a B&B a number of years ago.

  7. What is a “chief’s kitchen”? Does some indian chief use it or does it belong to a police chief or fire chief?

  8. Nice built-in details, but I can’t stand this style of decoration. As far as the fireplaces go, I’m not sure what that description is supposed to mean. Decorative fireplaces are near the top of my SF housing pet peeves.
At the risk of being OT, I’m wondering if there’s anyone who could tell me how much it costs to get rid of a chimney. Let’s say 2 stories tall over a garage (3 levels) and no challening site/access conditions.
